Madison facility nears completion of Phase IV expansion
MADISON, IL – Feed Products, in a continuing effort to better serve our customers, is erecting a state-of-the-art feed ingredient load out at its Madison facility.
As part of a multi-million dollar expansion, FPS hired Manufacturing Solutions to design and build the industry’s fastest and environmentally sound bulk load out facility. This new design includes a triple rail unloading pit, a 150-foot leg and bulk bin cluster that will allow four 150-ton bulk bins to load out to both rail and truck. This modern new system incorporates the latest technology to handle feed mineral ingredients at over 300 tons per hour. The company now expects to load over 3 bulk rail cars per hour and take less than 10 minutes to load trucks.
In addition, FPS has expanded its private rail fleet to include over 50 private covered hoppers.
This new capacity will allow FPS to supply customers with the most efficient service possible. Jay Allgeier, director of logistics, says FPS has a unique ability to competitively ship magnesium oxide, sodium bicarbonate, feed phosphate and urea straight or in combination in the same private car. St. Louis allows competitive shipments to both coasts as well as Canada and Mexico.
